Review: Freeing the Beast by Tina Donahue

Freeing the Beast (Taming the Beast #1)
by Tina Donahue

No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Magic is Becca Salt’s business, but it ain’t happening in her bedroom. The half-witch proprietress of From Crud to Stud performs miracle makeovers for paranormal creatures. Once she’s done with them, they’re out the door hunting for hot babes, not hanging around for a too-curvy, plain Jane like her.

Her newest client is hot, hung, mouthwatering perfection. What could she possibly improve upon?

Eric Diletto. Descendant of Cupid, bred for courtship, courtesy, and all that other gentlemanly junk. What has it gotten him? Dumped time and again for bad boys. He needs Becca’s help for an entirely different reason—regression therapy to release his inner beast. Grrrr.

Two potions later, they’re crawling all over each other. Becca aches for a man who loves her as she is, not because he’s under the influence. But Eric isn’t as impaired as she thinks. And he intends to take Becca here, there, and everywhere—anything to convince her his desire isn’t just the potions talking.

Warning: A witchdoctor’s nightmare. Contains potions with weird side effects, a sorceress with limited magical skills and a yearning heart, plus a minor god who wants to get down and dirty. Bad, bad boy!

Ever heard of  a business that does makeovers for paranormal creatures, helps in taming the beasts inside so they could find their one true love? Well, that’s what From Crud to Stud is for. Becca Salt owns and operates this booming business, but when she encounters Eric Diletto, she’s surprised by this minor Greek God’s request. Instead of being the nice guy, he wants to unleash the Kraken and be the bad guy every woman wants.

Will Becca succeed on this predicament?

I enjoyed a great part of this paranormal story and even had me grinning like a lunatic after all those (mis)adventures of Becca Salt and her conquest. She’s one insecure witch who believed that no guy would ever fall for her. I liked how Eric Diletto entered the picture and knocked the wind out of Becca. Literally. Loved their banters and crazy antics, and the supporting characters were just as funny as well. (Loved Uncle Desi!)

This has been a really hot and erotic paranormal story that wiped out the frowns I was having this morning. Really a great fun read!!

NOTE: I received this book from the publishing company in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Explicitly Yours by Mika Jolie

Explicitly Yours
A Platonically Complicated Novella
by Mika Jolie

Marriage.
The final frontier. The end of dating. The number one cause of divorce.

I bet you every man who is about to take the plunge experiences a wide range of feelings. As a guy, whose wedding day is only seven days away, I know this.

Anxiety—Nerves are kicking in. Yeah, even confident, cocky guys like me are bound to face nuptial stage fright.

Let’s face it, forever is kind of a long time, right?

Excitement—Coriander and I are going to make it official. I’m marrying my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with.

Nothing can top this moment.

That is until I got the biggest surprise of my life…

Coriander Phillips and Dean Conrad Morello are soon to be married. Yes, finally! The man who was always surrounded by a bevy of beauties was finally tying the knot with his beloved, with his best friend. Almost twenty years of friendship and in less than three months, they decided it was time. If you thought this was kind of rushed, I assure you, it’s not.

Years and years of platonic relationship had finally took up a notch and now they couldn’t wait to make it official. But there’s one thing that they couldn’t agreed on, a crucial decision that they had to bear responsibility for the rest of their lives. A responsibility that Dean was scared to even think about. Everything was running smoothly until they finally realize what they were getting into.  It’s five days before their wedding…. is Dean really ready to settle down amidst his fears?

A few months ago, I met Cori and Dean in The Boyfriend and fell in love with the reformed player. There’s something about guys who admit their insecurities and mishaps and failures and dreams. That something was what drawn me to Dean.

In Explicitly Yours, the same annoying yet charming narrative greeted me, Dean airing his dirty laundry while admiring his fiance’s physique. Other readers may find him obnoxious and egotistical – me, I found him honest, adorable, tolerable self-centered macho who’s got stars and hearts in his eyes. Cori was lucky to have him.

And oh, don’t remind me of those hot and heavy scenes that happened between the couple. I’m telling you, I couldn’t handle the heat! Whew!

Anyway, I love how Cori and Dean grew as mature and responsible adults. I love how they got a very strong support system, too. I just wish the other characters were given more spotlight, but maybe, they’ll be having their own books soon, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Once again, Mika Jolie turned me into a mushy, giggly hopeless romantic overnight. She always knows how to make my day right. She always knows how to tell an honest-to-goodness story without making me sleepy. I would read everything this author writes and I will never get tired of her writing. That’s how much I love Mika Jolie!

Review: Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward

Drunk Dial
by Penelope Ward

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.

I didn’t think he’d call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.

Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

I’m ugly crying right now while writing this review.  Yes, I do sound crazy because of that, but hear me out.  I can’t simply stop the tears from falling after reading and learning everything about Landon and Rana Banana’s pretty darn exotic and magnificent love story.

From drunk dialing to spewing a long time childhood secret; from belly dancing to food truck serving; from nightly phone calls to love notes, to interstate gift exchanges;  from Michigan to California, from the food truck to the hometown garage, from the ocean music box to the wine stopper, from spy cameras to Rubik’s cube, from Shyla to Beverly,  from Beth to Lilith, from Lana to God,  everything everything everything was perfectly magnificent!

Honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever meet a man like Landon,  he’s just too good to be true!  Lucky Ranoona Banana Saloomi, she’s got him on her palm and never letting go. I think I need to learn belly dancing from her from now on!

Have I already mentioned that their erotic scenes were hot, sexy, smoldering and provocative and titillating that could put Anastasia Steele to shame? You better believe it!

This story is beautiful,  from the moment Rana drunk dialed her crush,  to reading his love notes,  I was sold.  Everything that followed after that made me smile,  laugh, gag,  roll my eyes, bite my lips,  hold my breath and cry a thousand rivers. I didn’t realize Penelope Ward will have that effect on me. Great job,  Sassypants!

Review: Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

Cocky Bastard
by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.

A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.

When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.

My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.

I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

A flat-tired car and a broken down motorcycle led to a convenience store selling Obama bobbleheads and a road trip that Aubrey Bloom would never forget. Meeting a gorgeous cocky bastard named Chance Bateman was the icing to the cake. And boy what a ride they’d been in..

Okay, so this is another collab work by two of my favorites, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward and I enjoyed the road trip I’ve just been into. Who wouldn’t fall for a man named Chance with the Aussie accent and darn good looks and kickass motorcyle? Hmmm.

I love love love Aubrey and Chance’s characters respectively. The road trip they were on opened up little hidden desires and loosened up some tight knots within themselves. Both characters’ charismatic factor was adorable and the sexual tension sparked and bursted and exploded like fireworks on the 4th of July. Getting to know each other through Obama’s bobblehead, casual talks in different diners, helping (and adopting!)  a fainted goat and sleeping in a tent, shouting at the top of the Grand Canyon plus a date with a couples massage on the side, what more could I ask for in a road trip? Hmmm… A Las Vegas marriage maybe?

But a detour two years too late opened up the floodgates and brought forth the heartaches of two doomed lovers.

I dunno about you, but I definitely had the time of my life with Aubrey and Chance. Reading their own respective voices made me understand their personalities, but let me tell you, I love being in Chance head better. He was just so impossibly swoon-worthy that I wish he were real and alive in front of me.

If there’s one thing I can always count on Keeland and Ward, that’s their 100% engagingly hot tandem factor. They always lift up my mood after a heavy and tiring day, making my night stress free and exciting and special.

So far, I’ve enjoyed great five days and a couple of years in one sitting. Vi and Penelope never fail to amaze me!

Review | Double Crossed: Stolen by Sabrina Howl

Double Crossed: Stolen
A Dark Romance
by Sabrina Howl

It was just a regular day at the bank for Lisbeth – clock in, manage funds and let finances dictate her flow. That normality is shattered the moment two criminals pick her bank to cash in on. When the alarm is tripped and the duo trapped inside, she’s the lucky human shield that gets them past the cops. Though Lisbeth considers herself another victim of their crime spree, she can’t deny her attraction to the men. They might have stolen her, but that doesn’t mean they can’t enlighten her – or that they can’t show her exactly what her monotonous life has been missing.

DOUBLE CROSSED: STOLEN is a dark steamy romance with themes of kidnapping, captivity, MMF action and guaranteed to get your heart racing!

Lisbeth was a banker who was caught in a crossfire when two armed and masked men took over the bank for a holdup. She’d been taken hostage by the men and was used as a human shield to be able to escape the cops. Little did she know that this was the start of a more gripping, if not more dangerous life she’d ever led.

Warren and Callum may have had hit the jackpot, not only because they had robbed a bank, but also because they met the woman who made their life even more exhilarating than ever before.

While I wasn’t particularly in favor of the plot (robbing banks and holding hostages), I knew there was still something going on about the characters that will make the reader have second thoughts. There’s a lot more than bank robbery and even kidnapping. The two male characters could definitely set the fire alarm for their extreme hotness and fiery attitude. Lisbeth was definitely in for the shock of her life.

This has been a rollercoaster of a story, a little too raunchy for my taste but proved to be quite promising.

Review: Total Abandonment (Unbearable Passion 4) by Scarlett Avery

Book Title: Total Abandonment
Series Name: Unbearable Passion, Book 4
Author: Scarlett Avery
Genre: Billionaire Romance Series/Erotic Romance

After a saucy weekend, Bryce declares his love for Sofia in the most unexpected way.

Bryce would do anything for his Sofia and there’s no doubt he loves her with all of his heart. But when Sofia introduces Bryce to her sizzling hot younger sister Ciara, Sofia smells trouble.

Every boyfriend she introduces to Ciara always falls for her ravishingly beautiful sibling.

Will Bryce and Sofia’s love survive Ciara’s legendary charm? Will Sofia come in second place again and lose the man she loves?

The last chapter in the Unbearable Passion series and I’m thrilled how it ended. Sofia and all her insecurities are eating up her insides now that she has to introduce her stunning sister, Ciara to her now lover extraordinaire, Bryce Van Linden. Ciara is great with light fixtures and she is hired by Bryce’s company to install new lighting in his New York office. Sofia doesn’t want them to meet, because Ciara is so gorgeous, that everyone she had liked before always chose her sister instead.

Trust and loyalty are put into test in Sofia & Bryce’s relationship, and I can’t really blame Sofia for all the doubts that clouded her mind. I love how Scarlett Avery continuously blow my mind with all these hot and steamy scenes and beautifully narrated story. The characters have their unique personalities and flaws, but those doesn’t deter me from genuinely hoping for their happily ever after. Their journey may have been quite a rocky one with pitfalls but seeing their smiles towards the end was worth it.

Did I mention the super erotic hot scenes that had the reader wide-eyed right at the start of the book? Better read this series so you’ll know what I am talking about. Ciao!

Review: EXPOSED – Unbearable Passion 3 by Scarlett Avery

Book Title: Exposed
Series Name: Unbearable Passion, Book 3
Author: Scarlett Avery
Genre: Billionaire Romance Series/Erotic Romance

When a man truly loves a woman he’ll do anything in his power to win her back.

The romantic adventure between Bryce and Sofia intensifies and it becomes clear it’s much more than a business arrangement in this sensual, sexy and steamy love story.

Tragedy strikes and Bryce is stuck in Silicon Valley desperately trying to dig his company out of a PR nightmare.

Stranded alone in Manhattan, Sofia is forced to accept work with another client who whisks her away on a two-week business trip to South America.

Has Bryce lost his Sofia forever?

He exhales sweet hot breaths into my mouth as he kisses my lips hard. It’s as if he’s ready for a second round of a steamy romping session before he catches his flight. I don’t want him to leave, but I know that I cannot ask him to stay longer or for him to take me with him.

He turns me around so I can face him, gently brushes the hair off my face, as he softly kisses the tip of my nose.

* * *

Bryce and Sofia had become physically distant for the meantime in this third book. Van Linden had no choice but to go and oversee his company’s problem on another state. And then a really unfortunate tragedy befell his friend, so he had to be away for a while. What with all the controversy surrounding his friend’s personality, he hardly had time to be with Sofia. Gosh, he missed her so much!

But the lady in waiting had to eat and earn and pay bills! So Sofia had no choice but to accept another escort job, much to Bryce’s consternation. That, and the fact that they’re both unreachable due to communications failure, had almost put Bryce to the brink. Now he’s wondering whether he’d still see his ladylove and if so, would Sofia still have the hots for him?

Oh.. My G.. I thought this book could not get anymore steamier than ever. Everytime Bryce and Sofia are alone together, I have expected a lot of sparks and explosions and groundbreaking scenarios. Scarlett Avery did not disappoint. Even though their alone time together was lesser compared to what they’ve done on the other books (really sexy erotic time together, I must say), the author made sure that the main characters couldn’t and wouldn’t take their hands and limbs off each other. (insert evil grin here!)

And also, now that Bryce knew Sofia’s real name and identity, I had this feeling that it won’t be long before her sister would finally learn about Sofia’s real job. Ohhh! I’m so excited for this! Can’t wait to get my hands on the last book in the series!
