Finders, Not Keepers
(The Not So Reluctant Detectives, #1)
by D.E. Haggerty
What do you do with a diamond no one wants? You can’t keep it. Or can you?
While cleaning her ex-husband’s effects out of the attic, Terri finds an exquisite diamond pendant necklace. She’s determined to return the necklace to its proper owner, but the owner was brutally killed, a murder which remains unsolved, and her heirs want nothing to do with the diamond. Terri embarks upon a journey researching charities to which she can donate the diamond. When her research becomes dangerous, Terri contemplates solving the murder herself. Her best friend, Melanie, jumps feet first into investigating the murder, but her neighbor, Ryder, doesn’t want Terri exposed to any danger. Ryder, to Terri’s surprise, also wants to be more than neighbors with Terri. Luckily, he’s prepared to take any measure necessary to keep her safe because someone is determined to stop her inquiries.
Join Terri on her quest to find a home for the diamond, which may result in the unveiling of a murderer – if she survives long enough.
Terri, recently divorced, was looking for her ex-husband’s sweater in their attic when she stumbled upon a beautiful diamond necklace among the boxes in the storage. She didn’t want to claim said necklace, nor did she believe that her ex had anything to do with it.
So she went through some digging up about its owner, with the help of her best friend Melanie and next-door hottie neighbor, Ryder, who also happened to be a private investigator. What she thought as a forgotten keepsake became an obsession of sorts when they learned that the original owner of the necklace was murdered.
Oh what an exciting and thrilling story this has been! Terri is an awesome, albeit, reluctant investigator and I love her! This charming teacher cracked me up in a good way, and her being with someone as cool as cucumber like Ryder definitely complete the story. Plus, there’s the lure of a sparkling diamond pendant and it’s history slash mystery that had me gripping the edge of my seat. A total winner!
I’ve always been a big fan and follower of DE Haggerty’s books, her Death by Cupcake series being one of my favorites. It’s always a refreshing vibe when I read her books because her stories always give me the “feels”. The laugh-out loud moments, highly intimate scenes, the shocking twists and turns and the mischievous heroines make Haggerty’s books always a pleasure to read. Finders, Not Keepers is my new and current favorite, and not just because of Ryder but also because of both Terry’s and Melanie’s antics. This has been a really hilariously fun fantastic mystery read!
