The Holiday Cruise
by Victoria Cooke
As if it weren’t enough to be cheated on by her husband of ten years, Yorkshire lass Hannah Davis is losing her beauty salon business too. Luckily, her big sister is there to pick up the pieces, but Hannah is desperate to find some independence.
Impulsively, Hannah applies for a spa job…on a cruise ship! Christmas in the Caribbean, springtime in the Mediterranean, what’s not to like? But, despite being in her thirties, Hannah has never done anything on her own before, and she’s terrified.
As the ship sets sail, Hannah has never been further from home…or closer to discovering who she is and who she wants to be.

Hannah Davis’ has been recently divorced from her husband, and her beauty salon business is in jeopardy, and it feels like all the universe is conspiring against her chance for that happily ever after. When she finally gets that moment to find herself, she sets on a holiday cruise and finds the most wonderful surprise in her life. New friends, new job, new places to be… seems like she’s found half of her life that’s gone missing when she was a married woman.
I found this story really fulfilling and promising. A woman in control of her destiny, struggling to find herself amidst a middle life crisis. Hannah’s life has its ups and downs, but seeing herself in a new light gives her that second chance of discovering what lies ahead and beyond the vast blue ocean.
I really enjoyed this story, more so, with all the interesting characters and their laugh-out loud moments, the luxurious life in a cruise and the exotic destinations that they’d been at. I love how this Holiday Cruise warmed my heart and brought a smile to my lips as I fell asleep. A new winner for me from Victoria Cooke!
