If I Stay (If I Stay #1)
by Gayle Forman

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family.

This has been heartbreakingly beautiful.. Breathtaking too. I don’t want to feel this emotional and weepy on Christmas day, but somehow, I ended up crying a river because of Mia and her tragedies. My heart burst a million times. This book packed a punch, if you know what I mean. Even the flashback scenes pinch my heart and I wallowed in its beauty.

I haven’t watched the movie version, probably I won’t ever, because I couldn’t contain the heartaches and emotions I’ve been through. My friends tell me the second book is much better, so I guess I have to prepare for it when I get to read it soon. If I Stay is a must read; just prepare rolls of tissue when you get the chance to read it.

Because of this emotional rollercoaster  this book brought me, I think I’m gonna take a sabbatical from reading heavy drama books until I am ready to cry a river again. What a momentous book this is!
