Peanuts and Eggcups
by Sara Mendes Da Costa
For Maggie Parsons there’s only ever been one man: the stunningly delicious Luke Henderson. Unfortunately, he left her, without explanation, after their ‘first night’ together …breaking her heart in the process.
Now ten years on, without any contact, he’s back and going to her school reunion. Great! And, to confuse matters…so is his suave, sexy, brother Tony who makes a major play for Maggie, then turns up with his insufferable – supposedly ex – fiancée!
Via the reunion, a black eye, getting the sack (as a result) a madcap girlie holiday and juggling her confused emotions around the two alluring brothers…Maggie starts to build a picture of what she really wants in life.
Trouble is, Maggie’s a pawn in a game she doesn’t even know she’s playing …and things are about to get a whole lot more complicated.

As far as my work is concerned, my real passion is writing and I hope that’s something I’ll be lucky enough do for the rest of my life. And whilst work and life merge for me to a large extent, I do love to do other things too.
I must admit I’m a bit of a ‘doer’. I tend to keep busy and am always thinking about ‘what next?’ and ‘what needs to be done?’
I love being creative and have a tendency to always want to redecorate and remodel rooms in my house and recently a fairly major change happened when I upgraded my voiceover studio, bought a second hand audio booth (a big, heavy, hunk of metal!) and sanded it, de-rusted it, filled it, primed and undercoated then glossed several times and painted a big Union Jack (or should I say Union Flag) on the front door…rather like a big Smeg fridge!
There never seems to be quite enough room in my house for my creative projects so I’m forever making plans to clear out and rearrange things to get some sort of order, but not all those plans happen as it tends to be easier, and more fun, to make plans to go on to the next project!
A big fan of designing space, I’m going through a vinyl wall art phase at the moment. It’s simply love to be able to create artwork directly onto the walls. There’s a large black drum kit silhouetted on one large wall and the word ROCK a few feet above it. There’s even a big red telephone box on my studio wall! I love to look at these blank spaces and go…ooh, how can I make an impact there?
My home is really important to me. I’m quite introverted really so a happy home is a happy Sara. My garden too. I love the garden particularly in the summer and seeing the flowers just bloom everywhere without too much help from me. There’s an ornate metal swing chair and a matching rocking chair out there and seats in different corners so different vistas can be enjoyed. Many weekend evenings are spent with a cocktail (or two) (or several!) sitting on the swing and mulling life over. Bliss.
Oh my goodness I do LOVE Netflix and Amazon Prime. I guess you could call them my guilty pleasures. Intelligent well-crafted drama, intelligent comedies, brilliant. There are some fantastic dramas which have come out over the last few years: Breaking Bad, Suits, The Good Wife, House of Cards, Maestro, Madmen, How to Commit Murder, House…oh too many to list! It’s such a joy to see well written, well cast, well-acted, well produced and well directed scripts come to life. I don’t think people realise how much time and effort go into these things and they impress me every time – how to pack the full excitement of a film into an hour every single episode.
Whilst I love and am comfortable in my home, I do so love to travel and get outdoors, walking, hiking, cycling and exploring. I particularly love being up high and having amazing views to look at. We are planning a trip to Iceland next year and hopefully Switzerland this year. Can’t wait! Having blue skies and mountains topped with snow with the sun beating down, and being up high, is just perfect. Besides, gotta love a holiday where I can burn off all the calories that are bound to be consumed! Mind you…a good quality all-inclusive has its place too when a rest is needed…as long as there’s an amazing pool
In essence, there are many wonderful things that are important to me in life – too many to mention really but I’ll have a go at some – in no definite order: love (and my lovely man), laughter, creativity, happiness, travel, camping (as long as there’s a handy plug socket somewhere – there’s a limit to looking ‘campy’!) great friendship, my cats, animals, whisky (yum!) devouring a great novel or a book from which to learn, good health & exercise, transformation, inspiration, spirituality and self-improvement.
Life for me is about being as happy and fulfilled as possible. Travelling down a road which never really ends and has twists and turns all along it which I can choose to take…or not. I love to dream, to plan, to seek knowledge and to really expand my mind into new possibilities. I don’t necessarily do them all (although after a cocktail or two I do plan to do each and every one of them – I’m sure we’ve all been there!) but, hey, the dreaming and feeling good bit can be just as good. Raising the energy and feeling great and laughing, well that’s the best medicine. That wonderful feeling of feeling amazing…that’s what I aim for pretty much all the time and that’s what I’d wish for everyone. And why not. We all deserve to feel fabulous don’t we…I mean don’t we? So we might as well decide to thoroughly enjoy life
