Title: All Fall Down

Series: Embassy Row #1
Author: Ally Carter
Published Dec 2015

officialsynopA new series of global proportions — from master of intrigue, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Ally Carter.

Grace can best be described as a daredevil, an Army brat, and a rebel. She is also the only granddaughter of perhaps the most powerful ambassador in the world and Grace has spent every summer of her childhood running across the roofs of Embassy Row.

Now, at age sixteen, she’s come back to stay – in order to solve the mystery of her mother’s death. In the process, she uncovers an international conspiracy of unsettling proportions, and must choose her friends and watch her foes carefully if she and the world are to be saved.

officialreviewGrace was there when her mother died, when she was shot in the chest, when the scarred man stood not far from her. Grace was there and witnessed it all, but no one believed her; no one, even her grandfather. They thought she was traumatized, that she was seeing things, that she’d gone insane.

Three years, Grandpa Ambassador ignored her; three years her father seemed to be distant from her. And after three years, she came back to where it all happened. With Ms Chancellor to guide her, Alexei to watch over her (because her brother Jamie asked him to) and a new friend, Noah, Grace would attempt to live a normal life again. she could But she couldn’t. Because within 48 hours in Adria, she saw that man again. The Man with the Scar. The Man who killed her mom. And it looked like he’s going to murder someone again. Grace must do everything to prevent this, to reveal the identity of her mother’s killer, to make everyone believe her, once and for all, or else, all will fall down.

Obviously, Ally Carter has done it again! I thought her other character from her previous books, Katarina Bishop was cool, both as a thief and a friend (in Heist Society) but with Grace, I felt drawn to her. I have this motherly instinct to run and comfort her and take her to Mount Kilimanjaro to stay away from all those that troubles her. No, she’s not cool. Grace is better, all because of the trauma she had to endure.

But she’s a fighter, she’s not afraid to get into trouble, she’s a real friend. No, I don’t want to dwell on the possible love triangle between her, Noah & Alexei, because that isn’t the focus of the novel. The mystery behind the Scarred Man and what really happened that night were the things to look forward to. Alexei, Lila, Noah, Rosie, Megan and other kids from the Embassy Row were all outstanding characters, each had something special to offer in the story, making All Fall Down an engaging read. I’ll be reading the next book in this series very soon!
