Review: How To Get Hitched in Ten Days

How to Get Hitched in Ten Days
by Samantha Tonge

officialsynopHOW NOT TO GET THE GIRL…

Meet Mikey, every girl’s best friend – he bakes the creamiest cheesecake, loves movie nights and is a great dance partner.

For Jasmine, Mikey is the perfect flatmate – he owns a 50s diner that turns out the best food around, gives the best bear hugs and amazing romance advice – after all they’re scoping out the same hot guys! So when her boyfriend proposes in the worst possible way, Jazz knows her best friend will be there to pick up the pieces with gourmet popcorn, Pinot sleepovers and a shoulder to lean on.

But Mikey isn’t about to let Jasmine give up on love, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to mend her broken heart – even if it means helping the one person who sees him as the enemy…

Because at the end of the day, all’s fair in the pursuit of true love… right?

officialreviewMikey is an all-around friend, companion, cook, dancer, confidant, baker, and most importantly, the best hugger in the world. Jasmine is so fortunate to have him in her life. But he doesn’t belong to her and neither is she to him.

Jasmine’s boyfriend Dave proposes to her on Valentine’s Day, but she declines. Now Dave turns to the one he never wants to get close with, never wants to be friends with. Mikey. But he has to. Or else, he’ll lose Jasmine for good.. in ten days.

Ahhh, this had been a really good read! I want some Mikey in my life! Mikey isn’t your typical hero. He’s soft, fluffy, sensitive and yummy. His friendship with Jasmine was admirable. He’s a keeper..

And he’s gay. And did I mention that he’s yummy, too?

I miss having a gay friend. The last one I’ve been really close with is now in Canada.. (Hi Donnel dear, I miss you!) Mikey is such a great guy. I think he’s the vital character in this short story and he stole the limelight from Jazz. That girl is so lucky to have him. But I think Theo deserves him more.

How to Get Hitched in Ten Days is a really feel-good and heart warming story about true friendship, unrequited feelings and unconditional love. I would have loved this even more if it were longer, though. I want more Mikey and Theo. I want to know what happens next with Dave and Jazz. I want more cheesecake, salsa dances and hairy chests. I want more, more, more!

Will be reading more Samantha Tonge novels soon. She’s such a talent! And a great teaser too! Forget about getting hitched in ten days. You should read Tonge to get hooked in ten minutes!
