Newly minted Ph.D. Lyssa Doughty and British security expert Kyle Pennington are meant for each other, but they can’t get out of their own way. After a year of dating in London and weekends at Kyle’s family home in Cornwall, Lyssa’s fellowship in the UK is at an end. She has no job prospects until she’s asked to interview for a job in the US. So much in love that he won’t interfere with Lyssa’s budding career, Kyle encourages her to go. Believing Kyle does not share her deep feelings, she accepts the offer.

She’s barely started at Tompkins College when she’s pursued by handsome poetry professor, Rand Cunningham. Rand knows Lyssa is a shirttail relative of the wealthy college president and, since he’s up for tenure, she’s his ticket to a cushy future.
Miserable without Lyssa, Kyle wakes up to the fact he was a fool to let her go. He’s willing to risk everything to get her back.

If Lyssa doesn’t wake up and ask who she really loves, the wrong man may win.

Lyssa got the best of both worlds in this latest book from Lakeside Porches series. While in UK, she’s got Kyle by her side and together they had build a relationship so easy and carefree. Until Lyssa decided to move across the miles, on another continent, to USA, to build her dreams. All she needed was Kyle.

But her friend seemed to have other plans. While Lyssa wanted a deeper relationship, Kyle had decided to let her go, thinking he would only be a hindrance to Lyssa’s success and happiness. Of course, Lyssa was devastated. In USA, she poured her time to work. But someone had shown interest in her and soon she was torn with her feelings. Was it time for her to move on from Kyle? But what if Kyle wanted to get her back?

This is a love story that feels good. I liked Lyssa’s story, her struggles with alcoholism and broken heart made her very human to me. Her character was relatable and flawed, but that’s what made her enticing and personable. Kyle, oh, this man was selfless, the kind of man worth introducing to your parents. He is someone every girl would want to meet. (Oh, I like that he was also great in resolving internet security problems too!)

Waking Up To Love woke up some feelings in my heart after reading. Katie O’Boyle wrote a refreshing Christian love story that made me smile after a crazy weekend. Simply beautiful!
