Review: RAVEN (Legends Saga 2) by Stacey Rourke

RavenRaven (The Legends Saga #2)
by Stacey Rourke

An infamous love, destined nevermore,
For death could not claim, the enchanting Lenore.

Cursed by the malevolent spirit of the Headless Horseman, Ireland Crane ventures to Manhattan in search of a way to break her soul crushing bond. Instead, she discovers the lines between fact and fiction are blurring once more. Croaking ravens. Telltale hearts. Could the works of Poe be coming to pass with handsome Wall Street Midas Ridley Peolte as their unwilling target?

She walks the Earth, a plague on mankind,
searching for he, her rotted heart doth pine.

Together, the two unknowingly release a dark force death itself could not tame. Surrounded by the unrelenting violence and mayhem they’ve unleashed, Ireland feels her control over the Horseman slipping. Before the beast within consumes her, she and her crew must follow the clues of the dead to right a centuries’ old wrong. Will it be enough to sate the Horseman’s appetite?

Hell hath no fury like a ghoul scorned.

★★★★★: Awesome!!! I really loved this book! (Highly recommended)

Ireland is back and now she’s come to New York to find answers. She’s bent on finding out why was she cursed with the Headless Horseman tattoo, and with her are her trusted companions, Noah van Tassel and Rip van Winkle. She then meets Ridley who can see and conjure the dead with just one touch! He’s the incarnation of Edgar Allan Poe and he is one really interesting bloke. (I bet Poe has been turning on his grave whenever Riley encounters the dead. Or is it the other way around?)

I loved this series so much! Stacey Rourke packs a punch with Ireland and Ridley, Noah and Rip. The banters, the sarcasm, the drama, their scenes, their encounters, their verbal assaults – the deaths – all these were really so brilliantly adorbs.

Never thought I’d fall hard for a creepy thriller story, never thought I’d view this as a dramedy of sorts. I never thought that tackling historical fiction, bringing them to life and awakening legendary characters could result to a hilarious and uproarious blend of happiness in my reading.

More new characters appear in this book and however they appear in the story, the classic / modern approach that is Stacey Rourke trademark really makes this sequel more interesting, more entertaining, more engaging and more captivating than ever. Can’t wait to begin reading the third book, Steam, and roll in the hay again with Ireland. Yay!
