Exotic locations, sexy men, and crazy crew parties… Ellie has her dream job… or does she?
When Ellie’s fiancé cheats on her with a younger, slimmer, blonde from the office, she boots him out of her life and finds solace in a fabulous photography job aboard a Caribbean cruise ship. Twenty-four hours on board and she’s already shagged her sexy Texan colleague, who happens to love her muffin-top. Unfortunately he’s leaving in a week, and his ex-girlfriend, a hot-headed Brazilian with stripper moves right out of the 90s and a talent for stealing boyfriends, is still on board and out for revenge.
Ellie must work out how to deal with the loco ex, sort the lying scumbags from the good guys, and figure out how many crew members in a cabin it takes before officially becoming group sex.
Who the hell knows? (It’s five, actually.) It’s a world completely unlike the one she left behind, but as she tries to find her place on board, Ellie discovers laughter and tears in equal measure. And in the midst of the craziness, she realizes the greatest thing this lifestyle change has given her is the chance to rediscover herself.
★★★★★: Awesome!!! I really loved this book! (Highly recommended)
I swear I laughed out loud a whole lot while reading this super funny chick lit. Imagine a bevy of ridiculously good-looking hunks aboard a ship, looking at you like sumptuous food. And no matter which way you look – down, up, left and right, these beauties pretty much fill your fantasies every night. And now, it got me thinking, if I were not married and had no kids yet, I’d probably work in a cruise ship just like Ellie (or not…)
After a disastrous relationship with a wanker (her words, not mine), Ellie took a photography job in a cruise ship. Soon she realized what she’d been missing in her life. A life full of hot bods, string of drop-dead gorgeous men who are willing to please her, no strings attached. You’d think life in the cruise ship was glamorous, but it wasn’t.. not entirely. Ellie had been warned to get to know people more seriously, because it was not all it’s cracked up to be.
Seemingly so, the cruise also teemed with lies and liars, and poor Ellie was caught in a crossfire. There were times I shook my head at Ellie for her lack of better judgment. She should know firsthand about the lies because she’d been there, she’d been fooled by her good-for-nothing ex who left her for someone who liked One Direction.. oops… okay, so, I won’t get there..
Let’s go back to Ellie.. She’s definitely something. I could learn a lot with her (not from her). Her room mate Caitlyn was aso a hoot. But one of my favorite characters would have to be the gay best friend – Nick Canlas. He unwittingly made the snarkiest comments and lived a glamorous life. Cait & Ellie were lucky to have him aboard. And Jock, from the first time I saw his name in the story, I instantly liked him. Ellie was a fool to hurt him.
And the ending.. nope, there’s no ending, actually. But there’s a promise! A promise of a new beginning, one that I am eagerly anticipating the moment I switched off my Kindle.
Sex, Lies and Cruising was beautifully written, hilariously entertaining, frighteningly engaging and definitely a summer must-read! Cathryn Chapman is the bomb!
Cathryn Chapman nearly gave up her writing career when her eighth grade English teacher refused to believe her sensual poem could have been written by somebody so young. Two years later, when Cathryn was fourteen, that same English teacher declared she should start writing for Mills & Boon, and a women’s fiction writer was born. Cathryn graduated from university with a Business Degree and spent seven years travelling the world – working on cruise ships, and living in London, New York, Paris and South America.
In her thirties, she left a successful marketing and public relations career to pursue her dream of gracing the stages in London’s West End. When this failed dismally, Cathryn settled down with a husband and baby boy, and stayed in one country long enough to finally write her first novel, SEX, LIES, AND CRUISING.
